ECOLODGICAL
HELP FILE
EcoLodgical is an interactive web site driven by a MySQL database. It is a complex network of scripts and information packets and is still under development. The following help sections are available:
Registering/Login Issues
1. Why should I register?
Registration gives you the opportunity to configure content in a form that suits your specific context. As well, you will be able to contribute by adding comments, web links, events, and participate in the discussion groups. You may also wish to register as an expert and assist users in solving environmental design problems in the Think Tank.
2. Why do I have to give my email address when I register?
Your login information (username/password) are linked to your email address so that if you forget them, you can easily have them emailed to you without having to contact and wait for an admin person to email you the information. This is a secure method of storing login information and making it only available to you.
Note: We will never sell, distribute, or otherwise compromise your personal information without your consent. See Privacy Policy.
3. I have registered and logged in but the site still won't let me view some pages. I get sent back to the login page again.
The login script uses Cookies. Your browser must be set to accept cookies. If it is not then you will not be able to login. You can change your browser settings from the Tools/Internet Preferences (Internet Explorer) menu.
If your browser is set to accept cookies then please email the developer of this web site as there may be an issue with the time that the server is recording.
General
1. Is EcoLodgical spelled wrong? No. See Introduction.
2. Do you have a Privacy Policy? Yes. See Privacy Policy.
3. What is and Why should I define my context?
The Define Your Context option is a feature of this web site that allows you to define your individual situation or context by answering a few questions that are then stored with your login information.
When you visit the Design or Operation sections information will be displayed depending on the context you've defined. If you do not define your context than the display will default to standard options (i.e. 45 degrees latitute).
For example:
If you chose to enter your latitude (i.e. 30 degrees) then when you reach the Overhangs section an image will be drawn automatically that illustrates overhangs appropriate for your latitude.
4. What, Who are correspondents?
Correspondents offer their perspective on the topic of environmental design/operation/management in the hospitality industry. We prefer if correspondents have some unique experience or perspective (i.e. live in different part of the world, own an ecolodge, etc.) to offer before we allow them to join EcoLodgical.
5. What is the Master's program that required a project like EcoLodgical to be completed as a thesis project?
Faculty of Environmental Design, University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada
