ENVIROMENTAL DESIGN ELEMENT Although environmental building design is critically important to reduce environmental impacts of an operation, on average the operation of the building over its lifetime (i.e. 50 years) contributes 5 times the impacts of the initial construction. Thus, a life-cycle analysis is required to fully understand the environmental impacts of a building. CHECKLIST
